On this day…

Today marks 20 years since James Anderson’s test debut. Let’s wind back to the weekend nearest 22nd May 2003 to see how the club did…

The 1sts XI drew with Vauxhall Mallards having them 9 wickets down. Ian Elliott made 50, Pete Wargent 47 and Rob Barber 42, with Adrian McCoubrey taking 5 wickets. Mallards won the league that season.

The 2nds got rained off at Stowmarket just 40 runs short of victory. Paul Symons took 6/40 while a calippo fuelled Steve Rudd made an unbeaten 50. Marc Gozzett’s velvet bag batting order chose an interesting opener partner for Steven Rudd!

At East Bergholt, the 3rds beat the hosts by 4 wickets with Paul Davis, Paul Bardo, Dave Cummins and Michael Smith taking wickets before Anthony Rose made a match winning 65.

Keith Bannister made 99 for the 4ths against Witham 2nds in Division 7, who now play in Division 2! Ben Gibbons and Jack Riley also played.
