Great game yesterday. Although we lost the result that actually counts is 5 U12 colts representing Maldon CC at senior level and giving a really good account of themselves. Really hot conditions and against a decent side they all can hold their heads high.
Senior player Fred Compton had a good knock of 33 and established a foundation of the innings with Matt Adams.
Special mention to Enzo Rose – U12 Colt who batted through 10 overs at the end of the innings, guiding us past 90 and 110 to get some batting points.
U12 colts Zach Steel and Will Hawes opened the bowling and kept a tight first 10 overs, with Zach taking his first senior wicket
Caught D Rose – Bowled Z Steel
As Eight Ash Green approached the total, DR rolled back the years and picked up a wicket and could have had a couple more on another day. Brad Sturdy, U12 colt, contributed with some superbly athletic fielding in the covers.
Then Jack Caldow, another U12 colt, picked his first senior wicket up before the opposition reached the required runs.
All the colts contributed and were superb. Lots of potential from the 12/13 colts. Well done. A happy captain in defeat.
