Maldon Cricket Club is one of Essex’s leading cricket clubs based at Drapers Farm. We are proud to be the home club of Sir Alastair Cook and maintain strong links with Sir Alastair to the present day. The Club currently runs four Senior Men’s teams at weekends, a Ladies Team and a vibrant Junior Section.
The 1st XI were 2nd in the East Anglia Premier League in 2003, and has been a consistent member of Division One in the Two Counties Championship since 2006.
In 2022, the club was relegated to Division Two and is aiming to making a quick return to Division One in 2023. The Club has a strong Colts Section, with a membership approaching 100 ranging in age from 6-17.
We have teams competing in Under 11, Under 13 and Under 15 leagues as well as a many girls playing in our Ladies team. In addition, we participate in Kwik Cricket tournaments as well as hosting an annual event. Our younger colts train on a Friday night when parents are able to enjoy the hospitality at the Club bar.
The Role:
We are looking to appoint a Club Head Coach or Coaches to lead the coaching and development within our club.
The club is looking to appoint one or two individuals to fulfil two key roles: Colts Cricket Head Coach and Senior Cricket Head Coach. Candidates may wish to apply for one or both roles.
The role may also incorporate a playing responsibility for Maldon CC 1st XI (the successful candidate is likely to have an excellent record in equivalent Division One Cricket standard or higher level). Non- playing coach applications will also be considered.
Reporting to the Chairman of the Club, the main duties will be as follows:
· Junior Summer Programme (April – July) 1.5 hours, 14 sessions
· Senior Winter Programme (Feb-April), 2 hours, 5 sessions
· Senior Summer Programme (April-Sept), 2 hours, 20 sessions
· Saturday’s working with the senior Adult Teams, 3 hours, 4 matches initially
· Support the Head of the Colts in the development of the Colt System with a particular focus on player development (introducing players, where appropriate, to senior cricket)
· Be the overall point of contact on all matters relating to coaching and work closely and share feedback with other coaches and Senior Captains.
Additional Opportunities:
· Private Coaching opportunities, utilising the Club’s facilities.
· Running Holiday Camps.
Qualifications:
- Be at least an ECB Level 2 Coach (possibly working towards a Level 3 qualification)
- Hold an Enhanced DBS Check and all relevant Safeguarding and First Aid Qualifications – Have a proven record of coaching and improving junior cricketers
- Be passionate and have excellent communication skills Remuneration: Competitive – to be negotiated.
