On a beautiful warm and clement day at the prom Maldon 4th team played West Mersea. Maldon were without their normal skipper, Joe Figg who has been promoted to the 2nd XI.
Maldon elected to bowl first on a damp surface. Brilliant bowling from the opening and first change bowlers (Jas, Charlie F, Stanley J and Mickle) restricted Mersea to 94 for 9 from their allotted overs.
Particular mention for Jas who ended on 4 for 10 from 10 having not conceded a run for the first 7 overs.
Maldon’s fielding was tight throughout and really helped build the pressure.
In reply a good opening stand between Brown and Gregory followed by a Gregory family affair brought Maldon home to win by 8 wickets with 15 overs remaining Paul having batted the whole innings for an excellent 33.
