Hello Everyone!
Well, that’s it. Cricket happened at last for a full season, and I’m sure you’ll agree that it’s definitely been one to remember!
Success can be measured in many ways, more than just victory on the pitch, and this season has seen so much. With the ability to regularly put out 5 teams on a Saturday, the development of youth into the players of tomorrow, and the strong community bond that has been maintained by our player’s sponsors, the club can be rightly proud of what has happened.
The inaugural Statto Fantasy League has also been a resounding success, and thank you to all 38 of you who have taken part – I hope you’ve all found it fun and enjoyable. The online version is certainly the way forward, as it has let you view your teams and make changes whenever the mood takes you.
A brief summary for you…..
Badger leapt into the lead in the first few weeks and seemed to have it in the bag. Sadly it all went a but Spursy from there, say no more.
The following weeks saw Joseph Figg fairly streaking away with a massive lead, helped in no small way by his impressive run scoring this season. However over his shoulder lurked Luke Reeve, and gradually Joe’s lead was whittled down until early August, when Luke overtook him. And that’s the way it finished!
The battle for 3rd place was a bit more of a helter skelter, and any one of 5 or 6 players could have pulled through. But due to a final week surge, Gav Hayes pipped young Elmo to the post by a matter of 24pts, which is absolutely nothing seeing how both had scored almost 15,000pts each!
1st place = Luke Reeve………………………….£100
2nd place = Joe Figg………………………………£70
3rd place = Gavin Hayes………………………..£40
Congratulations to our winners – your prize monies will be with you shortly.
Commiserations to everybody else, but on behalf of Stuart, thank you all for taking part, and we look forward to welcoming you back next season for version 2.0.
Best wishes, Beano.
