On Wednesday 14 July, Maldon Cricket Club held an EGM to decide on the future of the clubs 5th XI.
Club members were invited to vote on three options, to decide upon the future of open age cricket for some of our senior mens teams.
The options for club members were as follows;
- We retain our current status in the Two Counties for our 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th teams with the 5th team remaining continuing to play friendlies on Saturday afternoons.
- Retain our current status in the Two Counties Division for our 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th teams with the 5th team joining the T-Rippon League.
- Retain our current status in the Two Counties Division for our 1st and 2nd teams, with the 3rd, 4th and 5th team entering the T-Rippon League.
Following a majority vote, option two was the chosen option by club members. Therefore, subject to the completion of the relevant processes, it is planned that the Maldon Cricket Club Men’s 5th XI will join the T-Rippon Mid-Essex League in 2022.
The Mid-Essex League consists of eleven divisions in total, with a placement division for the 5th XI to be confirmed in due course.
The Maldon CC Committee would like to thank all those clubs members who attended the AGM, either virtually or in person, to vote on this important club matter.
