Young 5th XI Go Close

The 5th XI hosted Old Chelmsfordians on Saturday 26th June and fielded a youthful looking side. The colts playing performed well and were supported by Paul Gregory and Michael Newman.

Having lost the toss Maldon were asked to bat first and started well with Murray Mynard and Will Savill scoring freely. After a few quick wickets Murray continued finding the boundary and reached his first senior 50 for the club. With score at 85/4 Murray was joined by Daniel Baker who scored 31 before being given out LBW. Skipper Paul Gregory scored a quick 21 and the Maldon innings finished with a well paced 181.

OCs started the chase well and scored freely. The young Maldon bowling attack bowled well with good accuracy and were ably supported by Bethan Bailey and Michael Newman who finished with figures of 2-38 and 1-35 respectively.

Charlie Figg, Fraser Case, Charlie Reeve and Murray Mynardall bowled well showing once again the strength in depth tat the club has produced. Despite accurate and tight bowling OCs reached the target inside 36 overs.

The 5th XI continue their fixtures next week away at Westcliffe.
