Despite the weather’s best efforts, the majority of the weekend’s matches did manage to go ahead and it turned into Veteran’s Week!
A game return of 2 wins and 2 defeats included impressive performances from Dave Rich, taking yet another Maldon 5fer and raising his tally of club wickets to a massive 1,291, and a typically Smudgeresque innings from Mike Smith, 102 with 11 sixes, the last 4 of these taking him to the ton. Elsewhere there were solid batting scores from Norman, Elmo and Jimmy.
Top points scoring players this week have been – DR (181); Smudger (172); Norman (125); Jimmy (124) and Elmo (120).
Top scoring teams in the same period were – Statto (667pts), DR (642pts) and Sue Randall (624pts).
In the league table, Joe Figg has increased his lead by almost 700pts from 2nd placed Luke Reeve, Joe on 3433pts with Luke on 2742pts. There’s then a little cluster between 3rd and 6th – Andy Bryant in 3rd on 2645pts, Jody next on 2644pts, Smudger close in 5th on 2642pts, and Statto nearby in 6th on 2603pts. Early pace setter Toby has dropped down to 11th!
So, six weeks into the season, who are the top performing players to date? Here’s the Top 10, which could be useful if you are playing the transfer field closely!
