Rampant 3s Cruise To Victory

Maldon CC 3rd XI finally got their season underway travelling to Harwich on a pretty wet and miserable day. Due to the adverse weather conditions the decision was made to shorten the game to 30 overs a side.

Harwich won the toss and elected to bat on what looked like a tricky wicket for batting. Harwich never really managed to going due to some impressive bowling from the Maldon opening bowlers. Youngster, Finlay Jones (pictured) who finished with figures of 4 wickets for 4 runs off of his 5 overs and Jack Plumb who finished with figures of 3 wickets for 10 runs off of his 8 overs bowled.

Luke Sanders then took the ball to wrap things up with an equally impressive 3 wickets for 7 runs of off just 2.4 overs to leave Harwich all out for 25.

All but two of the Harwich wickets were bowled, with Jamie Brown taking a good catch at point off the bowling of Jack Plumb and Mike Smith taking a looping catch at first slip off the bowling of Finlay Jones.

A performance worth mentioning was also Lawrence Cook who was exceptional behind the stumps.

Jamie Goldstein and Andy Barnes opened the batting for Maldon making short work of chasing down the 26 runs required to win, striking five 4’s and finishing the game off in just 4.2 overs.

After a fantastic maximum point win for Maldon in their opening game of the season Maldon will be hosting Ipswich CC 2nd XI next week at Maldon Promenade Park.
