Review once again, courtesy of Paul Greenham.
A bumper Bank Holiday weekend saw 7 fixtures across the period, with 2 wins, 3 defeats, an abandonment and a cancellation as the full results. And some great highlights among these games too, with a mighty 10 players passing the 100pts barrier for the week!
Stand out performances were from Jellis again (5/48 and 15 runs); Big Norm with a grand 76; Elmo with a rolling-back-the-years 74; Harry Grant’s 61, 54 and a catch from Joe Figg, and another 50 from young Macca Jones.
The 4th XI had the pick of the results, rolling the opposition for just 45 to win by a massive 133 runs – excellent bowling all round, with the wickets shared between Callum Figg (3/12), Luke Sanders, (3/21), Jas Bains (2/4) and Will Hayes (2 overs, 1 maiden, 2 for 2)
Top points this week scored by;
- Callum Figg – 186
- James Ellis – 165
- Joe Figg – 134
- Dan Haylett – 129
- Norman Case & Cameron Blackboro – 126
- Ian Elliott – 124
- Harry Grant – 111
- Luke Sanders – 110
- Mackenzie Jones – 100
And as you may have seen posted on the social media channels and the website, Lee Monk scored a not necessarily outstanding 18 runs, but this took his career total for Maldon over the 3000 runs – great work Munkenstein!
Now for the teams week 3 performance…
Joe Figg managed to score an outstanding 999pts with his team, overshadowing good scores from Alan Coker (845) and Mike Cutmore (815).
Overall it’s still the Spin Collective leading the way, with Toby nudging ahead of Jody by 1723pts to 1719pts. Max has pulled back to 3rd with 1674pts, and the good week from Mr Coker and Figg Senior have moved them to 4th and 5th respectively, on 1592pts and 1584pts.
This coming weekend sees a further 8 scheduled matches, weather permitting, so fingers crossed for a full schedule and further great results!
