Maldon Cricket Club can confirm that influential all-rounder and ex First Team Captain, Chris Harris is leaving the club to join Frinton-on-Sea Cricket Club in the East Anglian Premier League.

The East Anglian Premier League is the top level of competition for recreational club cricket in East Anglia covering Cambridgeshire, Huntingdonshire, Norfolk, Suffolk and North Essex and Harris is joining the divisions 2019 champions.
Chris made his Maldon CC debut way back in 2008 has since gone on to amass an impressive total of 12,387 runs in 352 innings recording a batting average of 40.22, with a top score of 161 not out against Braintree in 2017. Whilst scoring a bucket load of runs, CH also collected 240 wickets at 26.17 a piece, with his career best figures standing at 6 wickets for just 14 runs.

Whilst appearing for the club, Chris captained the Men’s first team for 3 full seasons, collected 3 player of the year awards, 2 batsman of the year awards and smashed his way to an impressive 25 hundreds and 70 fifties.
Speaking on Harris’ departure, Chairman Steve Brown said “Chris is leaving the playing side of our club to pursue the next level of Cricket for which his big talents deserve.
“We’ve all seen Chris grow from the very shy young lad through the teenage years to a top class player and excellent leader of men and decent human being”
He deserves his day in the sun at a higher level and we wish him all the best in all he does and look forward to seeing him for a beer or two at the club.”
