Such Joins The Dons

Maldon Cricket Club are pleased to confirm that former Essex & England spin bowler Peter Such will be working with the club during the 2021 season.

Such will be working closely with talented players identified by the club, as well as members of the club’s 1st and 2nd XI squads.

1st XI captain Toby Pugh said, “We are delighted that Peter will be working with us this summer. He brings a wealth of knowledge and experience which will help our players to improve from working closely with him.”

Such took more than 1,000 wickets during his professional career, including 37 test match wickets for England between 1993 and 1999. This included taking 6/67 on debut against Australia at Old Trafford in the 1993 ashes.

Since retiring, Such has excelled in the coaching world, becoming the ECB’s National Lead Spin Coach, working with international players at the top level of the game.

Such becomes the second member of the Essex championship winning sides of 1991 & 1992 to work with the club. Neil Foster was Club Coach between 2002 & 2004, helping the club to 2nd place in the East Anglian Premier League in 2003.
