The Under 9’s finished their winter indoor campaign at Shenfield High School on Saturday with a much deserved win against Ingatestone to finish top of Playoff Group 5.
Batting first the opening batting pair of Oren and Freddie got us off to a great start losing no wickets and putting on 40 runs. Meghan and Logan were the second pair and put on another 19 runs thanks to some great four hitting from Megan and Logan’s pull shots.
Harrison and Seth put on another 20 runs in the last pair with Seth hitting consecutive fours in his Maldon debut. A total of 79 was a good target to set and contained some great hitting and running between the wickets.
With the ball Maldon kept Ingatestone to just 60 runs to win by 19.
Although everyone bowled well it was great to see Seth pick up his first Maldon wicket and Oren not only took wickets with some great bowling but had two direct hits in the field for run outs and a great catch.
A great team performance and a well deserved win. Thank you to all players who have played over the winter in our first indoor league campaign. Good preparation for the forthcoming season!
